This past weekend, we ventured to Seaside for a quick mini-vacation. At the beginning of the year, we had big plans to do a long trip and head down to Newport also, but then Covid hit and changed our plans a little bit. We still wanted to do a getaway with the kids so we packed up Saturday morning and hit the road. We got to about Cascade Locks when I realized I’d forgotten my camera. So I improvised and shot our whole weekend on my Galaxy S10. Cellphone cameras have come so far in the last few years and I’m so impressed with the quality!

We timed it perfectly to hit Camp 18 for lunch on the way. Camp 18 has always been so special to me and we made sure to stop every time we drove past when I was growing up. While my husband waited inside for our food, I took the kids out to explore the grounds and stretch their legs. I always love seeing the history surrounding the restaurant and we had lots of fun throwing rocks into the creek.

We missed the gorgeous Seaside weather by one week, but we were happy with the cooler temps. Enzo hasn’t been to the actual beach yet (just the Sound in Port Townsend) so he wasn’t too sure about the water and the waves. He spent some time in the water, but also spent a lot of time yelling at it too! But both kids absolutely loved playing in the sand.

On the way home, we stopped at the former tallest Sitka Spruce in the US. I was so sad when I heard it fell down in a storm a few years ago, but it is still impressive. I’m just glad I got to see it once when I was in high school!

How does my baby look like a teenager here?!

Our weekend was just what we needed as a family. We spent some real quality time together and had so much fun! I’m already planning a return trip. And you know it was a good weekend when you see this in the backseat!
